Lutheran Home for Children

Lutheran Home for Children, a ministry of Lutheran Social Ministries of New Jersey, is housed in the “old parsonage” next door to the church building on Hoboken Avenue in Jersey City. Contact the home at (201) 420-6106.

The Lutheran Home for Children is an emergency shelter for children whose families are in crisis. In many cases, the parents or caregivers of these children are in rehab, so the children need a safe place to live as their caregivers put their lives back together. St. Paul Lutheran Church enjoys a close relationship with the staff of the Lutheran Home and welcomes staff and children for worship, education, and other events.
Begun in 1904 as an adoption and welfare society for children, Lutheran Social Ministries of New Jersey continues to minister to the needs of children who have been hurt, abused or abandoned.
